KOTA FACTORY REVIEW

Updated: May 22, 2019

This will remain with you gift a long time if you have lived the life of an Indian student.

The series starts with Vaibhav coming to Kota (the IIT factory of our country) in search of a good coaching centre to prepare for JEE exam. He befriends Meena and Uday, his roommates. He also gets some guidance from Jeetu Sir(Bhaiya). After initial problems, he gets comfortable in Prodigy Classes and that's where the real problem starts.

Pros:

You will easily connect with it and that is confirmed. The performances are flawlessly awesome.

Cons:

Not a con, but making such a masterpiece with just 5 episodes and not giving any clue of season 2 is a sheer crime.

The screenplay is irritating with Black and White effect in the beginning. But later you will get to know what was the meaning of such a screenplay. And suddenly changing the colour at the end was a masterstroke by the makers.

When Mina's character says “Jeetu Bhaiya to fan banane wale material hai” it was a bit cringy. But later on, Jitendra Kumar justifies that Jeetu bhaiya fan nahi balki idol banane wale material hai. We all knew that what a performer he was, from his Tvf stints , but who knew that this man could create such a magic onscreen. If Bollywood ever ignores nepotism and gives him a chance, then believe me, all the so called 'actors' (read starkids) will have to search some new job. This was a performance of lifetime. I rarely come across performances which are flawless, and believe me, what Jitendra Kumar has done, is even way greater than flawless.

Mayur More is just lit. He is very uncomfortable in his character, but in contrast, he is so much comfortable as an actor. He expresses himself very well. And you will never forget his chemistry monologue (that is an exception!)

But it's Alam Khan who takes the cake among the young lot. He is way funny in the whole series and his dumb antics will make you ROFL. But in the end, he says something, which your inner conscience was telling you at the time of 11th and 12th. Don't know about you, but I will never forget that scene. Plus Alam Khan's expressions as he conveys the pain of having disappointed his parents, is just icing on the cake.

Ranjan Raj is funny as the naive and simple Meena. However his character is just sidelined. But still he has his own moments in the show.

Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna fame Ahsaas Channa will for the first time ever, get the deserved appreciation for playing a GIRL character. She was fabulous as the straight forward Shivangi.

Out of the other 2 girls, Urvi Singh is funny yet adorable as Minal and Revathi Pillai is although good, gets a lesser screen presence.

Arun Kumar as Prodigy's head Deepak, is simply awesome with some added greyshades and comic shades to his character.

Now if you are watching anything related to Tvf or Tsp, you are bound to expect more of Shivankit Singh Parihar and Jasmeet Singh Bhatia. And the with ample screen presence and characters which could have been largely developed, but they are simply disappointing (writing wise, not performance wise, performance wise, they are asusually great).

All in all, Kota Factory will leave you wanting for more at any cost.

Go for it!
