BUYING A Rs.20 LAYS PACKET AND A Rs.200 THUGS OF HINDOSTAN TICKET IS SAME. YOU BUY THEM SEEING THE HUGE PACKAGE, BUT END UP SEEING HOLLOW AIR AND NOTHING ELSE.
pros:
The visual scale was the only redeeming quality of this master(ofshit)piece movie.
cons:
That you expect people to be happy, only by looking BigB doing action at 75 (that's undoubtedly commendable though), Katrina's skin show, Aamir Khan's goofy antics and Fatima Shaikh in a pointless romantic angle with Aamir Khan (yup! the father-daughter duo from Dangal)
The film begins in 1780s , where a Sultan (Ronit Roy) gets killed by John Clive (Lloyd Owen). Sultan's daughter, Zafira (Fatima Sana Shaikh) is saved by Khudabaksh ( Amitabh Bachchan). Years later they form a tribe called Thugee, a group of violent beasts, looting and murdering the British and somehow, looking for freedom (no offence to any religion, now we all know how much Aamir Khan loves Hindus. Just like he mistakenly insulted hindu gods in PK and forgot to show Geeta Phogat and Babita Phogat as stern Lord Hanuman devotees (they actually are) in Dangal, the same way he is showing the Lord Kali worshippers, Thugs, who were fighting for their freedom as rebels, as good for nothing goons, and this is the same way the British wrote about them in their book "Confessions Of a Thug"). Firangi Mallah (Aamir Khan) is a man who cannot be trusted for anything, still, Khudabaksh, even after being betrayed by him once, tells him to take care of Zafira. Somehow they get their freedom in 1795, and from 1796 to 1947, not a single British Official even dares to touch them. No? Then I don't get that, we were under whose rule till the next 152 years?
The cinematography is literally the best thing. Music department is a disaster. Whereas the music is somewhat bearable, the lyrics will make you think that, are they written by Bashir Babbar (writer-lyricist of Gunda)?
Some movies are good in quality, some are bad in quality. In this movie, the lyrics in an item song are "dechuki ho darsan ab parsaad dogi kya Suraiyya jaan legi kya"
Amitabh Bachchan is bad. Very much. I have not seen a towering talent like him getting wasted to such an extent before. Still he tries his level best to save the film and that's what makes him the BigB. Yes! kudos to him for performing such high octane stunts at 75, with such a dedication. Still, what is the use of the icing, if the cake itself is bland in taste.
Aamir Khan hams like there is no tomorrow. He proves that an actor like him can be at his worst, when the script is bad. He is only better than his 'Tum Mere Ho' stint. He does overacting and is lazy in his act, which is clearly visible.
Katrina Kaif is the heroine. Khudabaksh's character has a VFX made Eagle as his friend. The eagle has more screen time than Katrina Kaif.
Fatima Sana Shaikh clearly has to learn a lot more about commercial acting. She was wonderful in Dangal and that's why she fails to impress with her overacting as Zafira.
Vijay Krishna Acharya has got the talent to waste actors like Md Zeeshan Ayub and Ila Arun. What else to say about his direction.
Sharat Saxena has acted in 2 Khan films in 2018 and both are failures (his acting also)
Ronit Roy was the only one, who was sincere in his role. And you know what the best part is? His character gets killed in the first 10 minutes only. Bravo!
Lloyd Owen, a Welsh theatre actor, is doing a Hindi film only to talk to his fellow British actors in Hindi. Seriously tell me YRF, how much more money can you actually waste in a disastrous movie?
I really feel bad for those who wasted their Diwali watching this in halls.
Once again, I'm telling that I am writing these posts as a viewer, so don't expect me to publish the public opinion.
