10 favourite suspense thrillers of Bollywood

10. A Wednesday

If this was Neeraj Pandey's debut, then it was no big deal for this guy to give masterpieces like Baby and Special 26.

This movie was released in 2008, and was a sleeper hit, so just the amount of critical acclaim this would have got from the audience. What proceeds as a crime thriller, ends on a shocking note, revealing the true face of the society and terrorism.

P.S- A Wednesday was remade into 'A Common Man' with Ben Kingsley in lead, which was sent to Oscars, whilst we send movies like 'Happy New Year' to oscars. Sigh!

9. Table No.21

Table No.21 is one of those movies which, after watching, your reaction will be "from there the hell did that come from?"

Let me tell you an example, you watch a villain in the film and feel empathetic for him. This is exactly what the movie showcases, not through unnecessary songs, massy dialogues, but through the most unimaginative way possible.

What's bad is that neither the movie, nor Paresh Rawal and Rajeev Khandelwal got the appreciation they deserved for the movie.

8. Blackmail

Abhinay Deo's 2018 black comedy starring the gem, Irrfan Khan, was a masterpiece in all ways. Due to the lack of massy touch, it did not fared well at the BO. Such films require brains! some real brains, to understand. Each and every performer, except Irrfan Khan, was at their career best acting and except is written because Irrfan Khan is ahead of all of them by miles and he was not in his character, but he 'was' the character.

7. Kaun

Writer Anurag Kashyap. Director Ram Gopal Varma (the 90s version) !!!

What else do you need? Yes, the actors are Manoj Bajpayee, Shushant Singh and Urmila Matondkar.

Nothing more! just go and watch it on YouTube and if your jaws will not drop, then you could stop watching my posts

6. Ugly

This was the Anurag Kashyap, who knew how to give dark cinema a touch of entertainment (not giving movies like Raman Raghav 2.0 and Bombay Velvet). Anyways, Ugly gives a an actual feel of Ugly to you. Personally, I don't recommend it, because believe me, this can be very much disturbing for a happy-go-cinema like audience.

5. Special 26

"What you see, is not the truth" told by anonymus, proven by Neeraj Pandey. Special 26 is a roller coaster ride of a cat and mouse chase between the real CBI (Manoj Bajpayee) and the fake CBI (Akshay Kumar). Movies with such done to death plot are usually boring, and that's where the man Neeraj Pandey comes into play. A benchmark cult for everyone associated with the film.

4. Talaash

Aamir Khan is one actor, who doesn't shy away from doing roles, which are below his superstar stature, and same is proved in Talaash. From thrilling elements to supernatural elements, Talaash has its own merits and demerits, one being most people don't understand the end, as it is extremely complex. The end was actually beyond words, to be explained. Speechless!!

3. Karthik Calling Karthik

This was a mind blowing (literally!) suspense thriller directed by Vijay Lalwani in 2010. This went unnoticed at the BO.

Such movies are rare to find. Undoubtedly, one of Farhan Akhtar's best performance till date. Interestingly, this is the first movie in Bollywood to have dealt with Split Personality Disorder, and it succeded with flying colours

2. Johnny Gaddar

We are talking about thrillers and Sriram Raghavan's movie will not come ? Next joke please!!

Seriously, even Andhadhun is few steps behind Johnny Gaddar, because in Andhadhun, guessing was a crime, but here, guessing is actually of no use, because forget about guessing the next scene, you will not have any idea about whatever is going on, infront of you.

And this is the only movie I have seen, where the whole story is reversed in the last 15 seconds only !

A must watch!

1. The Stoneman Murders

This is the only movie, which has sent shivers down my spine in the end. Such movies not getting the deserved recognition, is really heart breaking. Kay Kay Menon is on a different level in the movie and with the conviction Manish Gupta has portrayed the fear of Mumbai from Stoneman, is shocking. The truth was never uncovered, that we all know. But the possible reason behind it (given by Gupta) will just give you nightmares.

P.S - Watch it till the end !!
